Young Miss of America 2017

Chesney Seagraves

Chesney Seagraves, 12-year-old daughter of James Seagraves of McDonough, Georgia and Katherine Seagraves of Locust Grove, Georgia, was crowned Young Miss of America 2017 on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Atlanta.

Chesney attends Union Grove Middle School in McDonough. She is a member of OneEighty Students at Retro Church. Chesney has an avid interest in all art forms and even learned film photography and development. In the future, Chesney plans to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design.

As Young Miss of America 2017, Chesney will serve as an inclusion ambassador for the R Word Initiative and Special Olympics Minnesota, which is the American Pageants’ charitable alliance. She enjoys volunteering with Open Hand Atlanta delivering meals. Open Hand Atlanta prepares and delivers meals to those that cannot afford proper nutrition, some who are too sick to prepare their own meals, and thousands of others are at risk for chronic disease simply because of their diets. She has also served as an Ambassador for the Dining Out for Open Hand Fundraiser at Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall. Another favorite volunteer opportunity of Chesney’s has been walking with the Henry County March of Dimes for the last 5 years ever since her cousin Brock was born at 23 1/2 weeks gestation.

Chesney is looking forward to meeting all of the amazing, uplifting candidates competing in this year’s state and national pageants. Being a part of the American Pageants sisterhood is what inspired Chesney to become Young Miss of America 2017!
